Dr. Banta is a certified Louisian, having obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree and Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Louis University. He successfully passed the Physician Licensure Examination in 1995.

Dr. Banta was born on May 30, 1968, in Baguio City. He is married to Ana Marie Reyes Banta, who is also a physician, and they are blessed with two children.
