Some 25 displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Rosales received P5,000 each financial assistance from the Provincial Government of Pangasinan on April 27.
The financial grant forms part of the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa OFW Project of the province that provides start-up capital to displaced OFWs for livelihood opportunities during this pandemic.
The Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa OFW Project is another component activity of Abig Pangasinan socio-economic recovery program initiated by Governor Amado I. Espino III.
Leading the brief program in Rosales were 6th District Board Members Noel C. Bince and Salvador S. Perez, Jr.
In his message, BM Bince commended the contributions of the OFW sector in economic stability of the country and hence, the importance of each OFW in the community.
BM Bince also underscored other component programs of the Abig Pangasinan Karaban in the province that moves around the province, like the Tulong Pangkabuhayan, to bring the services of the provincial government closer to its people.
On the other hand, BM Perez called on Pangasinenses to be extra cautious and observe the minimum health standards as the province remains on guard against increase of COVID-19 cases in the province.
The beneficiaries of the said program were carefully selected by their migrant desk officer on the following criteria: cause of repatriation, number of months/years OFW worked abroad, and economic situation.
“Maraming-maraming salamat sa proyekto ni Governor Espino… malaking tulong ito para sa aming mga OFWs lalo na sa nangyari ngayon na napauwi kami at ang government of Pangasinan ay nabigyan kami ng puhunan,” said Ephraim Terrado who was among the beneficiaries.
In addition to the financial grant, all beneficiaries engaged in financial management training administered by the Provincial Population, Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (PPCLDO) to help them grow their business.
Also present during the program were LGU-Rosales PESO Manager Roel Sabado, Office of the Mayor Staff Reyna Mae Licudo and LGU-Rosales OFW President Esmeraldo Agustin Sr.
