SP seeks assistance from DOH for the establishment of oxygen plant in Pangasinan
The Province of Pangasinan seeks assistance from Department of Health (DOH) for the establishment of a provincial oxygen plant in the province.
During the regular session on January 14, the provincial board passed Provincial Resolution No. 435-2020 requesting help from Secretary Francisco T. Duque III for the realization of the oxygen plant project.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, chairman on committee on health, said that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, through its 14 government hospitals, is in need of support from DOH for a convenient, sustainable and cost-effective service of oxygen to health facilities.
The resolution states, “The Sangguniang Panlalawigan strongly believes that having a reliable source of oxygen in the province is necessary to protect the health and welfare of the people of Pangasinan.”
“One of the primordial health concerns of the province is to save life of every Pangasinense,” said BM Rosario who noted that oxygen is among the basic requirements to save ill patients undergoing emergency situations and hence, necessary to be included in health planning budgets.
BM Rosario disclosed that a big chunk of budget from the 14 government-run hospitals is spent to purchases of oxygen.
In Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) alone, BM Rosario stressed, 2,100 cylinders of oxygen are consumed monthly which is equivalent to almost P2-million expenses on oxygen alone.
“If this project will be granted by DOH, through Sec. Duque, this will be a big help in the health sector because we will no longer need to purchase oxygen,” BM Rosario further stated.
