This was stated by Provincial Health Officer Anna Maria Teresa De Guzman, as the Provincial Government conducted the Resbakuna Kasangga ng Bida Vaccination roll-out for Capitol Employees on May 31-June 2.
The vaccination program is an integral part of the effort of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan led by Governor Espino to protect Pangasinenses and slow down the spread of COVID-19 through herd immunity.
On the day of the vaccination, employees underwent counselling, final consent assessment, and screening before the vaccine was administered. The Provincial Health Office was also on-stand by for Adverse Effects Following Immunization (AEFI) of the vaccinated employees.
Prior to the vaccination program, the Provincial Health Office conducted a survey to all the Provincial Government Employees wherein the PHO profiled and master listed the employees to identify the eligible population of each department.
Benefits of the vaccine include: reduction of risk of infection, creation of antibodies that can be passed to unborn babies through placenta, protection against severe symptoms of COVID-19, and defense of the community against the virus.
As of June 4, a total of 603 employees or 20.92% of the 2,882 eligible population of the Provincial Government were vaccinated. Meanwhile, Pangasinenses who received their 1st and 2nd dose also reached a total of 86,817 individuals.
The Provincial Health Office is continuing its campaign to encourage more Pangasinenses to get vaccinated.
