The Provincial Government of Pangasinan through the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Provincial Federation organized the PADACbo 2k19 Marathon which will be held on December 20 at the Baywalk Area, Lingayen.
The PADACbo 2k19 is open to all Sangguniang Kabataan officials, Katipunan ng Kabataan Members, youth organizations, marathon enthusiasts, athletes, students, and out-of-school youths.
Anchored on the theme, “No to drugs, yes to life,” the marathon aims to raise awareness among the youth on the anti-illegal drug campaign of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan.
“Ito ay in-organize para mag-raise ng awareness tungkol sa problema sa droga at sa masamang epekto nito sa kabataan,” SK Provincial Federation President and Board Member Jerome Vic Espino said.
The marathon will have three categories – the 5k open category, 10k open category, and 21k open category.
Onsite registration will start at 2:00 in the morning on the day of the race and will close at exactly 4:00 am.
The gun start for the 21-kilometer run will be at 4:30 am while the gun start for the 10-kilometer run will follow at 4:45 am. The 5-kilometer run gun start will be fired at exactly 5:00 am.
The participants can also avail the free billeting space at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center. Provincial Buses will also be provided for the participants which are stationed in Urdaneta City, Alaminos City, Dagupan City, and San Carlos City.
The winners of the race will receive medals and the following cash prize: 21-k category – P6, 000 (first place), P5,000 (second place), P4,000 (3rd place); 10-k category – P4, 000 (first place), P3,000 (second place), P2,000 (3rd place); 5-k category – P2, 000 (first place), P1,500 (second place), P1,000 (3rd place).
The runners are also entitled to participate in the raffle bonanza where 10 mountain bikes, 10 cellphones, 20 basketball balls, 20 volleyball balls, 20 chess boards, and 100 t-shirts are at stake.
Lecture on illegal drugs will also be held after the marathon.
Board Member Espino also reiterated that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan is keen in eradicating drugs in the province.
Meanwhile, PADAC Secretariat and PADACbo Chairman Col. Carlo Ressureccion bared that the Province of Pangasinan was able to get 95% grade from the 2019 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Audit.
Consequently, the municipalities of Alcala, Anada, Basista, Bayambang, Bugallon, Dasol, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Manaoag, Mangaldan, Mangatarem, Pozorrubio, Rosales, San Fabian, Santa Maria, Sto. Tomas, Villasis, and Alaminos City have also garnered perfect scores in the performance audit.
Board Member Espino and Col. Ressureccion alongside Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman served as resource persons during the Pangasinan in Action (Lingguhang Talakayan sa Kapitolyo) held on December 18 at the Urduja Session Hall.
