“Bahagi ito ng Abig Pangasinan at minarapat natin itong gawin dahil espesyal itong pagkilala at pasasalamat sa women farmers ng ating probinsya.”
This was stated by Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba who represented Governor Amado I. Espino III during the staging of Abig Pangasinan Karaban Awarding of Livelihood Project to Women Farmers under the Food Production Support Project on March 30 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center II.
“Sa panahon ngayon, ang kayang gawin ng lalaki ay kaya ring gawin ng babae – baka mas higit pa, lalo na kung ang pinag-uusapan ay ang pangkalahatan o ang well-being,” said PA Camba.
The special edition of the Abig Pangasinan, the flagship socio-economic recovery program of Governor Espino, is in-line with the celebration of the National Women’s Month this March and is focused on assisting women farmers in Pangasinan.
Board Member Rosary Gracia Perez-Tababa also bared that the program is intended to laud women, especially women farmers.
“Binibigyang pugay ni Gov. Espino ang mga kababaihang farmers. Magtulong-tulong tayong i-angat ang bawat isa dahil tayong lahat ay kaisa para ang Pangasinan ay laging number 1,” said BM Tababa who also chairs the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Children, Women, Elderly, PWD, Family Affairs and Social Welfare.
Anchored on the theme, “Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!”, the Provincial Government of Pangasinan distributed livelihood kits to a total of 51 women groups and associations across the province.
All 51 women groups from the six districts including: District I (13 groups), District II (7), District III (8), District IV (4), District V (8), and District VI (11), received the vegetable goods kit containing three trays each of eggplant seedlings and tomato seedlings, two trays each of siling pahaba and siling labuyo, vermin compost, and foliar fertilizer to support the backyard gardening campaign of the Provincial Government.
Six selected women’s groups, one from each district, were chosen as the beneficiaries of the pilot project, Broiler Production Package, where each group received 200 broiler chicks, two bags of starter feeds, and manual for the production.
All attendees of the program were also given the health and wellness kits composed of hygiene kits and vitamins.
“Tuloy-tuloy ang ating pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa Probinsya ng Pangasinan. Ang distribution na ito ay para sa inyong mga kababaihan,” said Board Member and SP Chair of Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Liberato Villegas.
Aside from the livelihood kits from the Provincial Government, a raffle draw was held where winners took home hygiene kits, stand-fans, and 10-kg sacks of rice.
Local products of women groups were also featured through the Pangasinan Women’s Livelihood Products Feature and Sale conducted on the same day.
Free health care services such as check-ups, ECG, X-ray services through the Abig Laman ed Barangay was also provided for the participants.
The program is led by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.
Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay A. Moya, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emilio P. Samson Jr., Assistant Provincial Veterinarian Jovito Tabarejos, and Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Nestor Batalla were also present during the event.
