Prov’l Gov’t distributes amelioration to 41,363 barangay volunteer workers, CVOs

Some 41,363 barangay volunteer workers received amelioration benefits from the Provincial Government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado ‘Pogi’ I. Espino III.

The amelioration distribution was held per district, which started on December 4 and concluded on December 24.

The said barangay volunteers are composed of: 12,322 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), 2,608 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), 1,708 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), 1,504 Day Care Workers (DCWs), and 23,221 Civilian Volunteer Organizations (CVOs).

The granting of amelioration to the barangay BHWs, BSPOs, BNSs and DCWs started in 2008 under the leadership of Former Governor Amado T. Espino Jr., and sustained by Gov. Pogi with incremental increase and wider scope thereafter.

Meanwhile, the distribution of amelioration for CVOs that started in 2021 was recently supported by Provincial Resolution No. 852-2021.

The said financial assistance is a token of appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices of the barangay volunteers of the province.

Maraming salamat sa inyong sakripisyo. Itutuloy po natin ang programa at dadagdagan natin ang amelioration,” said Gov. Pogi.

The provincial chief executive stressed that the provincial government earmarked a total of P61-million for this annual amelioration distribution of the province.

Further, Gov. Espino announced that the provincial government will also provide equipment such as weighing scale, thermometer, blood pressure apparatus, nebulizer, megaphones, and flashlights for every barangay to be used by the barangay volunteers.

Joining Gov. Pogi during the amelioration distributions were: Sangguniang Panlalawigan Majority Floor Leader Nestor ‘Nikiboy’ D. Reyes and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, namely: Chinky Perez-Tababa, Nicholi Jan Louie Sison, Jeremy Agerico,Noel C. Bince, Salvador “Dong” Perez Jr Rosario, Angel Baniqued Jr,  Margielou Orange Humilde-Verzosa,  Sangguniang Kabataan Pangasinan Federation President Jerome Vic Espino and other local officials.

Some department heads who facilitated the conduct of the events also attended some of the activities, among them were: Provincial Administrator Nimrod Camba, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emilio Samson, Provincial Population, Cooperative,and Livelihood Development Officer Ellsworth Gonzales, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Ma. Luisa Elduayan, Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Nestor Batalla and Special Events head Marife Acerit.

The Provincial Government through Provincial Health Office (PHO) conducted flu and COVID-19 vaccination in every venue to cater unvaccinated barangay volunteers.
