The province of Pangasinan is generally peaceful.
This was reported by Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (Pangasinan – PPO) Acting Provincial Director Redrico A. Maranan during the “Pangasinan in Action” Lingguhang Talakayan sa Kapitolyo held on July 30 at the Urduja House ceremonial hall, Capitol Complex, Lingayen, Pangasinan.
A barometer to measure the peace and order situation of the province, PCol. Maranan said the total crime volume of the province has posted a significant decline of 24% in index crime cases from January to June 2019, as compared to the data for the same period last year. Index crimes cover cases of murder, homicide, physical injuries, theft, robbery, and rape.
“The significant decline in total crime volume is attributed to the intensified anti-criminality campaign of police forces, which is fully-supported by local government units and various stakeholders,” PCol. Maranan said.
Anti criminality campaign include the accomplishment of the Pangasinan PPO against loose firearms, and relentless crackdown on illegal drugs thru the implementation of search warrants and other modes of police operations.
Projected to help increase the crime solution efficiency of police forces is the use of the digital facial composite sketch launched recently in the police provincial command. This will replace the use of the paper and pencil method, which takes a considerably long time of preparation.
PCol. Maranan said the innovation is much accurate than the obsolete method. It only takes five minutes to produce a sketch while the paper and pencil method takes one to two hours. In a span of a month, the digital facial composite sketch shall be adopted by the city and municipal police stations.
The Pangasinan PPO has reported its aggressive anti-illegal drug operations, noting that for May 28 to July 28, 213 operations were conducted leading to the arrest of 363 most wanted persons.
The arrested individuals undergo Pangasinan PPO initiated and assisted recovery and wellness program.
Also included in the Pangasinan PPO assisted program is the integrated reformation program by the provincial government, which is implemented in the Pangasinan Reformation Center, a facility in San Vicente, Burgos town which was built and managed by the provincial government.
The said facility has so far accommodated six batches of drug surrenderees from Burgos, Dasol, Lingayen, Binmaley, Mabini, and Alaminos City, who underwent the four-day reformation program.
As of July 27, some 220 outlets of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office gaming scheme in Pangasinan were shut down in response to the marching order from President Rodrigo Durterte.
