Lingayen, Pangasinan – Pangasinan province under the leadership of Governor Amado I. Espino III is one with Filipino nation in celebrating the National Bible Month this January.
Evangelist and Christian musical artist Myra Jalique, during the Pangasinan in Action “Talakayan ed Kapitolyo” held on January 14 at the Urduja House ceremonial hall, said Pangasinan in fact has dedicated the last week of January as the National Bible week for the province.
Jalique said this was made possible when the provincial government a few years ago has institutionalized the said National Bible Week for the province thru a provincial ordinance passed and approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
This provincial legislation, according to Jalique, was the first in the country. Last year, Pangasinan also hosted the 1st National Bible Quiz held at the Sison Auditorium, which formed part of the National Bible Week celebration.
“We encourage Pangasinenses to celebrate the bible because we believe that it has the power to change lives,” Jalique said.
“This is the time that we need to read the Bible and not to fear, but to fill us with hope in the midst of challenges and catastrophe,” Jalique added.
Prior to the National Bible Week celebration of the province, various municipal and city local government units and institutions and organizations are set to conduct their National Bible Month activities.
The National Bible Month this January banners the theme Vision 2020 : The Bible Transforms and Unites the Nation.
