Governor Amado I. Espino III will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Commission on Population and Development Region 1 for the intensified implementation of the Philippine Population Management Program and Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012.
This developed after the Pangasinan Provincial Board in its web-based/online session on February 22, approved Provincial Resolution No. 2147-2021 for the said purpose.
Authored by Board Member Rosary Gracia P. Perez-Tababa, the resolution stated that “this undertaking calls for timely collaboration between the POPCOM Region 1 and Provincial Government of Pangasinan to improve the policy and program environment at the local level to ensure universal access to responsible parenthood and reproductive health information and services especially among the marginalized sectors.”
Furthermore, the resolution disclosed that “the adoption and full implementation of the Philippine Management Program and R.A. 10354 offers short and long-term socio-economic benefits as it primes the province for an accelerated economic economic growth resulting from reduced birth, morbidity, and mortality rates.”
As stated by BM Tababa in her sponsorship statement, the Pangasinan Provincial Government thru the Provincial Population Cooperative and Livelihood Office, has institutionalized programs and mechanisms that assist and strengthen capacities of local program partners in the areas of demand-generation, and information and service delivery targeting the most vulnerable population sectors.
