Gov Espino, NNC to sign MOU for Tutok Kainan prov’l implementation

June 19, 2021

Governor Amado I. Espino III will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) for the implementation of the Tutok Kainan or the Dietary Supplementation Program in the province.

This came after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan authorized Gov. Espino to sign the said MOU with NNC Executive Director, Hon. Azucena M. Dayanghirang through the Provincial Resolution 534-2021 during the 70th Regular Session last June 14.

The purpose of the MOU is to provide technical and logistical support to the province for the Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) or Tutok Kainan in Pangasinan.

Tutok Kainan is part of the Dietary Supplementation Program of the NNC with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Zero Hunger.

Authored by SP Members Rosary Gracia P. Perez-Tababa and Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario, the resolution bared that the program “aims to prevent stunting by providing nutritious food commodities to nutritionally at-risk pregnant women, and children aged 6 to 23 months old.”

Additionally, the Tutok Kainan will help monitor and evaluate an integrated nutrition program to ensure delivery of complementary Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services in the first 1, 000 days pursuant to RA 11148 or the Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act.

The program also aims to reduce the malnutrition problems especially during the pandemic.
