Gov Espino lauds LDRRMOs sacrifices, efforts

“Marami po tayong pinagdadaanan ngayon na mga pagsubok lalong-lalo na dito sa pag-asikaso po natin sa mga problema ng pandemya kaya’t tanggapin po ninyo ang aking taos-pusong pasasalamat kasama ang mahigit 5, 000 na empleyado ng provincial government, at ang mga opisyales.”

In his speech during the Second Quarter Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (LDRRMO) Meeting on June 17 via Zoom, Governor Amado I. Espino III lauded the efforts of the LDRRMOs in helping the province get through the problems brought by the pandemic.

Gov. Espino also extended his gratitude to the Municipal and City Government Units for their coordination to the Provincial Government which resulted to smaller number of COVID-19 active cases in Pangasinan compared with other large provinces in the country.

“Please also extend our gratitude to your Municipal and City Officials dahil kung hindi po dahil sa kanilang pakikipagtulungan, baka mas grabe po ang ating kaso. Bagamat malaki po tayong probinsya, we are managing well our active positive cases in the province,” added Gov. Espino.

The provincial chief executive reminded the DRRM Officers and members of every town and city to brace for the upcoming typhoon season and prepare themselves for unexpected problems due to inclement weather.

Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Officer Rodhyn Luchinvar Oro also recognized the efforts of every LDRRMOs in the province and called them the ‘unsung heroes of the Pandemic’.

“We are one with you. Malaki po ang tulong ng mga LDRRMOs lalong lalo na we are on the field sa mga operations against COVID. Sabi nga nila, the LDRRMOs are the unsung heroes during this pandemic,” Col. Oro said.

The meeting also discussed the preparation for the rainy season in the next quarter to ensure the community is prepared for disasters and other related hazards.

Chief of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Dagupan Jose Estrada Jr. discussed weather conditions during rainy season in the province.

PDRRMO Emergency Operations Center Director Shallom Gideon Balolong presented the Reporting Schemes of the DRRMOs, while Early Warning System (EWS)/Weather Monitoring Specialist of PDRRMO Keevein Del Rosario shared their best practices and the websites and applications that could be efficiently used in weather monitoring.

Dr. Rhuel Bobis, Medical Officer IV/COVID-19 Focal Person of Ilocos Center for Health Development, enlightened the participants on the Minimum Health Standard Protocol in Evacuation Centers.

On the same day, the PDRRMO Council also convened physically to discuss the Reconstitution of Council Members, Presentation of Contingency Plans and the plans for the National Disaster Resiliency Month.
