In support to environmental protection and rehabilitation, and coastal resource management (CRM) program of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan under the watch of Governor Amado ‘Pogi’ I. Espino III, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) conducted mangrove planting and benchmarking activities.
Around 2,500 mangrove seedlings were planted by agricultural extension workers at the Provincial Mangrove Information Center and Hatchery in Barangay Arnedo, Bolinao, on February 18.
“Itong mangrove activity ay nagtatanim tayo para mapangalagaan natin ang karagatan,” said OPAg Bolinao Center Chief Alvin Soriano.
“Kailangan magtanim ng bakawan bilang panlaban sa climate change, upang mabigyang proteksyon ang wildlife at maging source of livelihood ng mga mangingisda,” he added.
The Bolinao Center Chief together with his staff toured OPAg’s agricultural extension workers from San Quintin, Sta. Barbara, at Mangatarem field stations to the Bolinao field station for benchmarking activity.
The activity was initiated by the OPAg headed by Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya.
“Gusto ko rin na makita ng mga field station ang best practices na ginagawa sa Bolinao field station on organization development, project implementation, and project supervision,” said Provincial Agriculturist Moya as she stressed that through this activity, the other field offices will learn new ideas worth replicating.
The activity is also a venue to strengthen camaraderie among the OPAg staff.
