The Benchmark team bagged the much-coveted championship crown in the 2019 cheerdance competition of the 4th Pagalaw tan Olopan ed Gobyerno Itanduro (POGI) Sportsfest.
The cheerdance competition, which was held on December 20 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium, wrapped up the three-month-long sportsfest of the Capitol employees.
Benchmark reigned supreme against seven other teams comprising this year’s Capitol Sportsfest. Securing the second place in the cheerdance competition was Warriors team followed by Financiers team who won third place.
It can be recalled that the Benchmark team also claimed the championship crown in the last staging of the cheerdance competition held in 2016.
Governor Amado I. Espino III, Pangasinan First Lady Karina P. Espino and Pangasinan Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) Executive Director Modesto M. Operania led the awarding ceremony held shortly after the performances of the eight teams comprising this year’s Capitol Sportsfest.
Benchmark received P50,000 cash prize and a trophy while Warriors and Financiers also obtained trophies and pocketed P40,000 and P35,000, respectively.
On the other hand, non-winning teams such as: Medics, Generals, Builders, Legislators and Urduja EACH received P20,000 (apiece) as a consolation prize.
The POGI Sportsfest which was (first) launched in 2016 by THE Governor is geared towards uniting all provincial government employees and, at the same time, to motivate employees to stay fit and healthy.
