Basketball teams of LGU-San Carlos City and LGU-Bugallon are set for a battle royale to fight for the most-coveted overall championship crown of the 3rd Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games.
This developed as these two teams emerged champions in their respective divisions in the finals of the unity games.
In the second championship games held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center on August 16, these two teams clobbered their rivals in their respective division championship finals.
Putting an end to the duel in Division A, San Carlos City retained their title after they subdued LGU Bayambang twice in a row.
Although the San Carlos City had a sluggish start in the first two quarters, 24-12 and 43-42 in favor with Bayambang, the defending champion ended their drought as the third quarter began.
They earned their first lead, 46-45, with 8 minutes left in the game clock and built a towering 12-point lead against Bayambang at the end of the third quarter, 72-60.
Earning the back-to-back championship title in Division A, San Carlos City cagers thumped their nemesis, Bayambang, via 11-point lead, 89-78.
Meanwhile, LGU Bugallon dethroned last year’s defending champion LGU Urbiztondo in Division B, via two wins in the best-of-three finals.
Cheered by no less than their new municipal Mayor Priscilla I. Espino and former mayor and team captain, 2nd district representative Congressman Jumel Anthony I. Espino, LGU Bugallon served a memorable fight against defending champion LGU Urbiztondo led by Mayor Martin Raul Sison.
From a 6-point lead and 5-point lead in the first and second quarter, Bugallon padded their lead in the third quarter posting a 20-point lead advantage against Urbiztondo, 68-48.
Bugallon team earned their first championship title in the basketball tourney of the unity games with an impressive 25-point lead at the end of their match against Urbiztodo, 93-68.
