3 taekwondo prodigies in Pangasinan feted
The Pangasinan provincial board commended three young bloods from Pangasinan who dominated in martial arts competition held in Haikou City, Hainan Island in China on August 21-24.
Kimi Raikkonnen G. Soriano and John Benedict D. Cunanan, both 11 years old, and Alliyah Mari D. Burla, 12 years old, successfully represented the Philippines in the 17th International Clubs Taekwondo Organization Championship.
Besting over 1,000 athletes from 20 countries all over the world, Soriano captured a bronze medal in the poomsae discipline while both Cunanan and Burla won bronze medals in the kyurogi discipline.
The taekwondo championship is an annual sports competition administered by the International Clubs Taekwondo Organization and World Youth Taekwondo Federation to promote friendship and enhance goodwill among taekwondo fraternity throughout the world.
Authored by Vice Governor Mark Ronald DG. Lambino and co-authored by Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Vici M. Ventanilla, Angel M. Baniqued, Jr., Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario and Liberato Villegas, the approved Provincial Resolutions No. 87-2019, 88-2019 and 89-2019 state that, “the sterling performance of Soriano, Cunanan and Burla at an early stage is an inspiration and model of the youth in the province, especially to all Pangasinenses who aspire to be taekwondo enthusiasts.”
Hence, the provincial board commended and congratulated these three taekwondo prodigies for “amply displaying their mettle in the field of sport and wished him more success in all his future competitions.”
Soriano hails from Calasiao while Cunanan and Burla are both from Mangaldan.
