A total of P22,455,000 was granted to 1,497 Pangasinan farmers during the launching of the Expanded Survival and Recovery Assistance (SURE Aid) Program on October 30 held at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen.
The LANDBANK of the Philippines, Department of Agriculture, and Agricultural Credit Policy Council in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pangasinan inaugurated the said program to help the small-scale palay farmers or those who are tilling one hectare or below by providing financial assistance amidst lowering price of palay in the market.
The SURE Aid program aims to provide farmers a one-time zero-interest loan amounting to P15,000 payable up to eight years. The beneficiaries of the program will have a grace period of six months, in accordance to the harvest period, to have to pay their loans.
Board Member and Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Chairman Liberato Villegas highlighted that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan is keen in prioritizing the farmers of the province.
“Kayo ang front-liners na nagbibigay sa atin ng pagkain at mga kailangan natin sa araw-araw na buhay,” Board Member Villegas said.
LANDBANK Northern and Central Luzon Lending Group Senior Vice President Filipina Monje said that the additional funds as working capitals in buying the farmers’ harvests were provided to the local government units.
“Makakaasa kayo na patuloy naming pinalalakas ang pakikipagtulungan sa inyo. Sama-sama nating isulong ang kapakanan ng ating magsasaka,” said SVP Filipina Monje.
Present in the event were Board Member and Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Chairman Liberato Villegas, Board Member Vici Ventanilla, Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya, Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Nestor Batalla, Department of Agriculture Agricultural Credit Policy Council Alicia Ilaga at Landbank Representatives.
