105 preschoolers undergo 90-day DSP from Prov’l Gov’t

A total of 105 preschoolers from Mangatarem, Urbiztondo, and Umingan undergoes the 90-day Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) from the Provincial Government of Pangasinan under the watch of Governor Amado I. Espino III, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

During the 4th Regular Consultative Onsite Meeting of the Provincial Nutrition Committee on November 10, one of the topics discussed was DSP for preschoolers as one of the nutrition interventions to decrease the prevalence of malnutrition.

With a budget allocation of P600,000, beneficiaries from Mangatarem (35), Urbiztondo (35) and Umingan (35) are receiving dry food ration from the PHO since October 12 until December 21, 2021.

Asst. Nutrition Program Manager Ligene T. Neri said that the province prioritized the three listed municipalities with high prevalence of underweight, stunted and wasted for the nutrition intervention program.

Aside from the DSP, other nutrition programs including Tutok Kainan, and Pilipinas Kontra Gutom were tackled.

Nutrition Program Manager Analiza S. Miranda said that the Provincial Government have been implementing nutritional programs to combat malnutrition.

“Marami pong programa para sa nutrisyon. Ang pinakamisyon natin ay mabawasan ang mga batang malnourish natin sa barangay,’’ said Ms. Miranda.

The meeting also discussed Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan, approved Regional Nutrition Committee Resolutions, 2022 Provincial Nutrition Action Plan based on Develution and Review of Agencies Accomplishment Reports.
