HUNDRED ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK DEVELOPMENT u PROJECT DESCRIPTION : The project entails the establishment of an additional take-off point close to the Hundred Islands, aside from Lucap, which is already overcrowded with excursionists. This includes the development of a beach resort in the mainland. The proposed resort which will be of international standard and quality will support and complement the existing accommodations and other tourism facilities in the park and its environs. Such a resort will create a demand for tourists to stay at least overnight rather than merely daytrip to the park since it will provide animations which can keep them happily occupied even as they enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
u LOCATION : Hundred Islands and Sitio Bolo, Telbang, Alaminos City, Pangasinan The recommended site for the accommodation facility is in Sitio Bolo, Barangay Telbang in Alaminos City. It was conceptually chosen precisely for the reason that this main accommodation plant would be in the mainland but very close to the islands which would be visible in a beautiful panorama from its guests and public rooms. Other considerations include: ¯ Bolo has the only accessible beach in the vicinity. Compared with the rocky coastline of Lucap, it certainly is a better site for a take-off point. It is even nearer to the islands than Lucap and it will make it possible to maintain heavy traffic of daytrippers for the Hundred Islands National Park. ¯ It has a wide stretch of white, sandy beach and undulating terrain with a beautiful panoramic view of the islands. ¯ It also has a known source of fresh water. ¯ The Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (PANELCO) supplies electricity to the area. Communications through cellular telephone can be easily installed. ¯ There is an existing road from the Alaminos Poblacion to Bolo. Another alternative connecting route can be provided by extending the road from the barrio of Cabatuan to traverse the declared forest area of Alaminos to the site of the resort. ¯ Bolo, when developed, should to the greatest degree possible, offer the attractions of a complete resort complex; The Hundred Islands National Park and its beaches, a hotel, swimming pool, tennis courts and quick accessibility to Metro Manila.
