From Facebook User Rebecca Ruiz de Vera :

Sumikat na ang araw at halos lahat tuyo na, pero ang Pangasinan ay lubog pa sa baha…..Ni hindi pa nilalagay sa state of calamity. Parati na lang huli ang Pangasinan sa mga pangangailangan. Bigyan naman sana ng pansin.

    • http://www.pangasinan.gov.ph PangasinanGov Admin

      Mr. Orpheus Velasco replied:

Hi Ms. Rebecca. The truth is the floodwaters in Pangasinan subsided faster than before as a result of the massive dredging and dismantling operations of illegal fishpens in our rivers and waterways. It just happened that the amount of rainfall induced by Typhoon Falcon was unusual. In fact, it was heavier than the rainfall dumped by Typhoon Pepeng that submerged the central and eastern Pangasinan in 2009. As a result of TS Falcon’s phenomenal rainfall, some towns in Western Pangasinan experienced extraordinary flash floods for the first time. For this matter, the Sangguninang Panlalawigan has already declared Pangasinan unde ar state of calamity last Wednesday.

We are pleased to inform you that the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), a government agency under the Office of the President, is part of a project aimed at leveraging overseas Filipinos’ (OFs) remittances for economic development. The main proponent of the project, the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), received a grant from the United Nations Development Programme and Western Union Foundation (Project ID # 76817) to carry out the project entitled OFs-Diaspora Remittances for Development (OFs-RED): Building a Future Back Home.

One of the activities in the OFs-RED project is to conduct a research and profile existing and innovative investments and businesses initiated by overseas Filipinos or their families through their remittances. Please find attached a copy of the background about the project for more information.

In this regard, may we kindly request if you can provide us information regarding former or current overseas Filipinos who have established a business or investment from his or her remittances in working or living overseas, whom we can possibly interview for this purpose. We wish to assure you that the interview is for the purpose of the project only. The output of these interviews will be a compilation of stories on how overseas Filipinos used their remittances to establish their own businesses in the country.

im just wondering why some mining operators and operations pushes through even without clear papers at khet nakaagrabyado ng mamayan ng isang bayan ay napapaboran pa rin?

Hello Pangasinan! I was surprised on this article http://ph.news.yahoo.com/cebu-gets-asean-recognition-193823429.html as saying that Pangasinan had this desticition before as ASEAN City of Culture. Kindly give confirmation because i never heard about this before. Nevertheless, i am proud if this destincition is true. Thank you!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Orpheus-Velasco/1031945240 Orpheus Velasco

Hi Ms. Soliven. I read the article based on your post. I noticed that there is inconsistency in the report posted online, as Pangaisnan in that story was not initially listed in the 9 Asean City of Culture, but it was mentioned in the 3 core cities.

I checked other papers on this topic, and I found out Pangasinan was not included. Kindly refer to the Philippine Daily Inquirer story online last July 16 with the heading “Cebu hailed Asean ‘City of Culture.’ ” Instead of Pangasinan, Pampangas was mentioned. Take heart, in due time, with what Gov. Espino is doing to revitalize culture and arts in Pangasinan, we will gain that kind of honor. Thanks for sharing.

dear sir, may i ask when will the camiling bridge be passable to provincial buses? its been more than a year since its closure to heavy vehicle. The additional hours of travel due to rerouting to bayambang, now we have to pass by san carlos city also, is a great inconvenience. We would be happy if the old camiling route of western pangasinense travelers will resume. Thank you very much sir

  • Corderojanine

hello sir,may we just ask who were and who is now famous from pangasinan?

    • orpheus m. velasco

Hi Ms. Cordero — It is hard to assess who were and who are now famous in Pangasinan. There must be certain paramaters, or else we might miss out certain well-known personalities. For this matter, we can use, as our basis for proclaiming famous – better yet, outstanding — people of Pangasinan, the awardees of ASNA Awards particulary on April 5, 2010 (the launching of such an award during the first celebration of Agew na Pangasinan) and this year last April 5, too.

Here are the list of awardees: 2010: Pres. Fidel V. Ramos, Franciso Sionil-Jose, balitok awards; Santiago Villafania for Arts & Culture, Rina Jimenez-David for Mass Communication, Menardo Jimenez for Business Industry, Dr. Westly Rosario for Aquaculture, Dr. Francisco Duque III for Medicine and Public Health, P/Supt. Eric Noble for Community Service, Reynaldo Villar for Government Service, Rodolfo Cardozo for Sports, Jaime Lucas for Special Recognition (founder of Ulopan na Pansiansiay Salitan Pangasinan).

2011 Awardees: Former Speaker Jose de Venecia for Global Leadership, Jr. (Balitok Awardee), Salvador Bernal for Theatre Design (Balitok Awardee), Joyce Bernal for Arts & Culture, Alma Quintans-Kern for International Community Leadership, Sen. Letecia Ramos Shahani for Foreign Service, Engr. Marcelo Casillan, Jr. for Community Service, Lt. Gen. Arturo Ortiz for Humanitarian & Military.

Aside from the Balitok and ASNA Awardees, you can include elective provincial officials, past and present, because you cannot win an election if you are not famous down to the grassroots level.

      Keep in touch!

    good morning,

may i ask the telephone no. of Regional Trial Court Branch 70 of Burgos, Pangasinan? if none, can you please give me the contact no. of the Clerk of Court therein?

i am from Davao del Norte and Burgos is very far from where i come from. i would truly appreciate if your office can lend me some assistance in contacting any of these offices.

    • orpheus m. velasco

Hi Mr. Soliven — We are doing everything we can in our bid to host Palarong Pambansa 2012. We have a strong chance to grab it because we have the cutting edge of having the best physical and human infrastructures to offer. Look. While the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center has world class sports facilities, we have Governor Espino who can ensure a successful Palaro considering that he was the appointed chairman of the Palaro Task Force and the Palaro Secretariat way back in 1995 when Pangasinan hosted a highly successful Palarong Pambansa. At that time, he was the the PNP provincial commander of the province.

Now as the Governor of Pangasinan, he can definitely rally the entire Pangasinan populace to make a historic staging of the biggest government-initiated sporting event of the country.

Besides, the Taekwondo event was held in a private venue in Dagupan City which is 15 kilometers away from Lingayen.

By the way, siak ni Mrs. Lani Leano Mallorca, maysa nga concerned citizen. It is one of our Philippine Medicianl Plants. 1 liter of water for 5/6 stalks po.

Thank God for this plant.

Praying na walang batang mamatay dahil sa dengue and for a stop to this virus.

Dear Tian — We deeply appreciate your deep concern by sharing an interesting article regarding mega projects in Northern Luzon during the holding of the 20th North Luzon Area Business Conference held in Bulacan.

Aside from the projects mentioned, may I also share with you special infrastructure projects initiated by the province of Pangasinan. One is the International Seaport in Sual. The first phase of this project has already started with initial funding from the national government — and this will surely spur unprecedented progresss in the province. Second is the Eco-tourism zone in Lingayen. The Philippine Economic Zone Authority visited four prospetive areas in Pangasinan to be declared as special economic zones. Among the four, the Lingayen 300-hectare eco-tourism zone impressed the PEZA executives. They are just awaiting pertinent papers so that they can facilitate its declaration posthaste. In the meantime, an 18-hole golf course is already being constructed in the area with two foreign investors raring to start building big projects in the area. Finally, we are now expediting negotitions with owners of 500- linear-meter lot in Lingayen to extend the runway of an existing Lingayen airstrip to be able to transform the area into a commercial airport.

Thank you and keep sharing Mr. Soliven.

Dear Arieshano22- – - We are glad that Pangasinan is fast becoming a favorite subject of project researches. This only proves that our province has indeed transformed from its Dark Ages into its Golden Age, a by-product of the dedication, hard work, determination and strong political will of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. monickered “The Action Man of Pangasinan Politics,” who is the one responsible for the major changes of our province.

With regards to the data that you need for your project research particularly the Socio-Economic Profile of Pangasinan, we advise you to read all articles posted in our website to learn more about our great province. We will also refer your query to the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and Office of the Provincial Agriculturist for detailed information that
      you needed.

Should you decide to visit our province in the coming days, we are willing to assist you with all pertinent data that will be useful for your project research.

Keep connecting and see you in the coming days.

      • Arieshano22

Thank you Mr. Orpheus Velasco. Such a great province as you said. With this regards, we decided to go in there tomorrow – August 31.

Another is that, we would also like to ask about data about the Narciso Lagoon. Thanks in advance.

        Respectfully yours,
        Fritz Cristobal

the Central I ES Teachers and Principal of San Carlos City is requesting a copy of the lyrics of the Pangasinan hymn and the Pangasinan version of Lupang Hinirang.
Thank you very much for choosing our school to be visited by your office as one of the schools to be visited on September 23, 2011.
    God bless and Mabuhay!

Dear Central 1es — It is the goal of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr.’s administration to revive and preserve Pangasinan culture and this includes our dialect. With this, the composition of our very own local hymn, “Luyag Ko Tan Yaman” was realized with the academe as the provincial government’s principal partner in introducing to the minds of every Pangasinense youth the value of patriotism. All public schools throughout the province will be provided with copies of the lyrics of the Pangasinan Hymn as basic material of instruction as regards the singing of the hymn. In the meantime, we are providing here the Pangasinan Hymn.

Thumbs up! Government websites are more useful if a job posting page is accessible. The page must contain the “Job Title”, “Agency, Branch, Place of Assignment”, “Job Requirements”, “How to Apply”, “Head of the Agency whom the applicant can write”, and “Mailing Address”…
AND THIS SITE WOULD BE USEFUL NOT ONLY TO STUDENTS, but most importantly, to the residents who are Civil Service Passers having a difficulty looking for a decent job because “NO OFFICIAL” site is made to display government job openings/vacancies. I, myself, is a Civil Service Passer, fresh graduate, looking for a job. My search for job vacancies led me to this site… So I strongly agree with PangasinenseAkmeT.

God bless and more power, Pangasinan!
