Pangasinan takes pride in honoring three outstanding Pangasinense soldiers and two outstanding policemen in the country for bringing honor to the province in bagging the much-coveted Search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) and the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS).
In the regular flag raising ceremony held September 17, Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. commended the five valiant Pangasinenses as he said that as a former police officer, he is doubly happy to see these uniformed men bring pride to Pangasinan.
The awardees include Capt. Erick A. Kagaoan, a director at the Philippine Navy, Col. Raul J. Tangco of the Philippine Military Academy and Senior Master Sergeant Augusto D. Reyes of the Philippine Air Force who were conferred as TOPS Awardees by the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and the Rotary Club of Makati Metro.
Kagaoan is a native of Tayug, Pangasinan. Reyes, on the other hand, hails from San Quintin while Tangco is a native of Bayambang.
The three soldiers were chosen for showing gallantry, dedication, commitment, professionalism and integrity among members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
COPS Awardees Police Supt. Belli Bagaas Tamayo of Calasiao and Police Officer 3 Eduardo De Guzman Santiago of Bayambang were chosen as Search winners for exemplifying excellence in solving and preventing crimes in their community and showing integrity as members of the Philippine National Police.
Prior to the province’s conferment and recognition to the outstanding Pangasinenses, the winners received their awards from the Search organizers during the awarding ceremonies for the Outstanding Filipinos last September 5.
The five Pangasinense awardees will now join the elite roster of the outstanding soldiers and policemen of our country. (PIO/Angeline Villanueva)
