The Provincial Steering Committee for the National Statistics Month Celebration is now ready with the various activities that the province will implement as the month-long event kicks off in October.
PESO Manager Alex Ferrer who is this year’s chairman for the NSM celebration said that the calendar of activities were carefully planned during the committee’s meeting last September 13 at the conference room of the Malong Building here to ensure the successful conduct of the event.
The provincial government, and all member agencies and local government units will start hanging streamers and display the calendar of activities in the Capitol façade and building facades of the LGUs on September 28.
On October 1, the NSM calendar of activities and the month-long celebration will be formally announced after the flag raising ceremony at the Capitol Plaza.
Ferrer disclosed that three jobs fair will be held during the celebration, one in Eastern Pangasinan on October 3, Western Pangasinan on October 15 and in Central Pangasinan on October 16.
The Philippine Regulation Commission is also set to conduct another “Agew na Propesyonal” here on October 12 where professionals can avail of the various services of the agency without going up to Baguio City where PRC’s main office is located.
Other activities include the usual provincial statistics quiz and poster-slogan making contest both for high school and college students on October 9 and 10 respectively, a labor market information seminar on October 18, a consultation workshop for the Provincial Poverty Reduction Action Team on October 24 and the awarding of livelihood checks for income generating projects under the livelihood program of the provincial government.
Ferrer said that as part of the celebration, the committee will launch the Provincial Search for Most Statistically Developed LGU where winners will be selected next year.
It will be recalled that the province of Pangasinan has been a consistent champion in NSM celebration for three consecutive years in 2008, 2009 and 2010 which catapulted this province to the Hall of Fame Award conferred to Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. last year in La Union. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
