The provincial government through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Pangasinan Chapter will conduct a blood- letting activity on June 20 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC) here.
Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman, PHO Chief, said that the activity aims to contribute to the attainment of the national government’s Millennium Development Goal of reducing maternal mortality through timely availability of quality and safe blood supply for pregnant and post-partum mothers and for patients affected with dengue.
The PHO chief encourages all qualified donors to support the project even as she said that series of tests will first be conducted for those who wants to donate which includes registration wherein donors are required to fill up a form that will indicate their health history, series of tests like weighing, blood typing and physical examination to ensure that the donor is fit to donate.
Also, Dr. de Guzman said that the donor must have a normal blood pressure which must be in between the systolic of 90-160mmHg and diastolic of 60-100mmHG. Hemoglobin level of not less than 125g/l is likewise required.
The province encourages all qualified donors to get in touch with the PHO or PRC Pangasinan Chapter on or before the scheduled activity. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
